The Houston Treasury Management Association is a regional chapter of the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP). The AFP is a professional society committed to advancing the success of its members and their organizations. The AFP established and administers the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and the Certified Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis Professional (FPAC) credentials, which set standards of excellence in finance.

The HTMA strives to improve treasury management by holding six meetings a year for its members, associates and guests. Meetings are held on weekday nights and include dinner, guest speakers and ample time for networking with fellow members. The HTMA is a Alliance of Texas Treasury Associations and will next host TEXPO in 2029.
